Vital, life-saving therapies need to be delivered reliably and often urgently to offer the best possible care for patients, but delivery cars and vans can be delayed by roadworks or rush hour traffic. Recently, we partnered with Oxford University Hospitals, NHS Foundation Trust and Pedal and Post to introduce a more efficient medication delivery service that transports our key products via cycle couriers.
Since the first delivery was made at the start of August 2020, more than 50,000 products have been delivered. By introducing this service, we have halved our medication delivery time from our compounding facility to Trust sites and also provided an estimated saving of up to 10 tonnes of Carbon emissions (CO2 eq) per year. In doing so, we've created an improved delivery service that is supporting NHS staff to improve patient care and helping the NHS meet their sustainability targets.
